ARLO OFFERS UP NEW BRUNCH MENU
ARLO, the chic eatery at Mission Valley's Town and Country San Diego hotel, is offering up a new brunch menu. Using fresh ingredients from both sides of the border, diners can try inventive items like chocolate pancakes served with a goat cheese creme anglaise, rosemary and strawberries; Cajun chicken and biscuts, which is a smoky crispy chicken thigh, a sour cream biscut and Espelette honey glaze.

It was the first time I stepped onto the campus of the Town and Country since its 2020 renovation. As I remembered it from my pass through a couple years agoi, the Mission Valley hotel and resport had been due for a little nip and tuck, and it's looking good.

It’s not an easy time to be opening a new restaurant anywhere, let alone one in an area that’s not typically thought of for its cuisine. But Arlo, which debuts today in Mission Valley at the revamped Town and Country resort, is hoping to attract local diners to Hotel Circle. At least, that’s the goal for chef Josh Mouzakes (Joël Robuchon at the MGM Grand Las Vegas, The French Laundry, and Hotel del Coronado), who wants to bring more culinary prestige to the neighborhood.

FINE DINING MOVES INTO MISSION VALLEY
Though Mission Valley isn’t historically known as a dining destination, a restaurant set to open there in mid-August is hoping to boost the neighborhood’s culinary cred. Arlo is an entirely new stand-alone eatery built within the Town and Country, the longtime Hotel Circle resort which is just emerging from a $90 million renovation that includes revamped rooms and the addition of pool complex. Leading the kitchen is chef Josh Mouzakes, who returns to San Diego from Houston, where he was executive chef of the JWMarriott. Mouzakes, a Johnson and Wales grad, previously spent four years at the Hotel del Coronado and also cooked at the The French Laundry and Joël Robuchon at MGM Grand Las Vegas.
